Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Cayman Islands

All the community projects that employees become involved in are held in high regard, both by the staff members that give up their own time for this rewarding work and the members of the community towards whom their efforts are directed. Perhaps of all the activities, the Big Brothers Big Sisters programme has a particularly special place in the affections of everyone involved.

Big Brothers Big Sisters, or BIGS as it has become known internationally, is a mentoring programme for schoolchildren, which makes a real difference to the young people involved, many of whom may have had difficult childhoods and exposure to drugs or violence.

CUC is one of the main sponsors for the BIGS school-based mentoring programme, which it has been involved with for a number of years. Recently, volunteers in the Company's BIGS programme have focussed their attention and efforts on one particular school - George Town Primary School. Employees often visit their young "protéges" at the school during lunch hour where they can share lunch and good conversation. Other activities include Christmas parties, special lunches at various restaurants and outings at the local parks.
